WHEW - Quite A Weekend! This weekend, I competed in the Moot Court Competition. Basically, you make a 15 minute oral argument in front of a panel of three appellate judges, who ask you as many questions as they can manage. Bad news? I spent all afternoon Friday doing the arguments, and then all day Sunday. Fantastic news? I was in the top 10% of the competitors, so I made the Moot Court Board!!! Considering there were almost 500 competitors, I really didn't expect to make it to the finals, much less onto the Board! Luckily, when I found out the good news last night, we discovered we had a bottle of bubbly on ice, so were able to properly celebrate. The other great thing about this weekend? AMAZING weather, and my favorite DC thing ever- the cherry blossoms!!! I LOVE the cherry blossoms - one of the few touristy things that is ALWAYS worth it. The only years I've missed them were when I was at college, and my spring break always came too early. There was also the tiniest bit of knitting on Mariah - I ripped back the sleeves, and spent WAY too long re-constructing the cables on the sleeves. They still weren't perfect, but, applying the "horse rule", I decided that they were fine. Especially since each cable took over two hours to re-shape - the problem was that, to continue the cables, I had to alter the cable pattern since, at the very top of the chart, the cables follow a slightly different pattern in order to "end." But now Mariah is joined, and I've started short-rowing the neckline: And here are the re-constructed sleeves: Cricket is also enjoying the beautiful spring weather, although she is NOT enjoying her little squirrel-friends, who seem to enjoy sitting right outside her window and yelling at her. 0 comments || # |
